Switching Mobile Phone Networks

Are you unhappy with your current mobile phone network provider? Don’t worry, you are not alone. Every single day hundreds of people in the United Kingdom look to change their mobile provider for a variety of reasons. On this page you are going to discover perhaps the easiest way to go about switching mobile phone networks.

The first thing you are going to need to do when switching mobile phone networks is finding the right deal for your needs. I won’t dwell on this too much because I am sure you know exactly what you want. For example, you could be the type of person that is looking for a lot of minutes with your new deal, or perhaps unlimited 3G or 4G internet. The choice is of course completely yours. Just find the right deal and you are good to go. If the best deal doesn’t involve you changing networks then your current network will probably transfer your number to your new contract or pay as you go phone for free.

Now, there are plenty of people out there who are reluctant to change their network. This is because they think they are going to need to get a new number, and of course this is going to be a lot of hassle handing out to their friends, family and business contacts. Don’t worry as you won’t actually need to change your number at all! Let me introduce you to the idea of a PAC code.

A PAC code is a nine digit number which you can obtain from your current network provider. The idea is that you can take this number, hand it to your new mobile phone network and your number will be ‘ported’ over to the new network. This means that you won’t lose your current number at all, this is going to be incredibly handy for you!

Obtaining your PAC code is not going to be too difficult if you are looking to change networks either. In fact, the network is required by law to hand you your PAC code if you request it, even if your account is not in good standing (i.e. you haven’t paid a bill). They are allowed to charge you for the release of the PAC code though, which shouldn’t be more than £25.00, although this number isn’t set in stone and can be set slightly higher if the company wishes for it. You can obtain a PAC code if you are on a contract or if you have a pay as you go phone.

Once you have your new phone you can simply phone up your new network, provide them with your PAC code and you will get the same number again! It really is that simple to change networks!

As you can see, opting to change mobile provider isn’t too difficult. It really is a case of finding the best possible deal, obtaining your PAC code from the network you are leaving, handing it to your new network provider and activating your phone!
